Temple Funds is an app that temples use to record donations collected for a festival. This page explains what information the app stores, why, and what we do and do not do with it.

We do not sell, share or transfer your information to anyone. There is no advertising in this app, no analytics service, and no third-party tracking of any kind.

Who we are

Temple Funds is operated by an independent developer in India. You can reach us at templefunds.support@gmail.com.

Each temple using the app controls its own records. We provide and maintain the software and the server those records are stored on.

Information about people who use the app

Accounts are created by a temple's administrator, not by signing up. For each person with an account we store:

Information about donors and others

Most of the personal information in Temple Funds is about people who never install the app. Temple agents record it while collecting donations:

Donors Name, phone number, house number, the street they are on, and any note an agent adds
Payees Name and phone number of a person whose UPI number online donations arrive on
Donations Amount promised and received, whether it was cash or online, goods promised or received, the date, the receipt number, the street, and which agent recorded it

A temple is responsible for telling its donors that it keeps these records, in the same way it would be for a paper receipt book.

What we do not collect

This list is deliberately explicit, because most apps do collect these and this one does not:

The app requests no Android permissions beyond internet access, which it needs to reach the server.

Why we store it

Only to run the service: to sign you in, to record a donation against a donor and a receipt number, to show a temple what it has collected, and to produce the printed reports and receipts a temple needs. We do not use it for anything else.

Where it is kept, and how it is protected

How long we keep it

Donation records are a temple's financial records and are kept for as long as the temple uses the service. We do not delete a temple's donation history, because those records are not ours to delete — they belong to the temple, and they are what a receipt is checked against.

When a person leaves, their access is removed. The donations they recorded remain, so the temple's accounts stay complete.

Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you may ask what personal data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, and ask for it to be deleted. Email us and we will respond within 30 days.

Deletion is explained in full on the deleting your account page, including what we are able to remove and what we must keep.

Children

Temple Funds is a tool for temple staff. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly create accounts for them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Where a change affects what we collect or who we share it with, we will tell temple administrators directly rather than relying on them to re-read this page.
